Admiral's Place - Luxury Property in Gibraltar

Overview

As a luxury residential estate, Admiral’s Place is considered one of the best in Gibraltar. An exclusive, gated estate, it combines luxury and history in a corner of Gibraltar’s sought after South District, overlooking the Rosia and Camp Bay areas, offering uninterrupted views of the Bay and Straits of Gibraltar.

Although a luxury residential estate today, Admiral’s Place was originally built in the 1730s as a British Military Hospital. Throughout its history, Admiral’s Place underwent a series of reconstructions and ultimately became Military Married Quarters in the 1950s. As part of the Lands Agreements between the Government of Gibraltar and the Ministry of Defence, Admiral’s Place was handed over to the Government of Gibraltar in the 1980’s and was developed into the residential estate it is today in the late 1990’s.

Features

Admiral’s Place consists of thirty nine properties. Thirty four of these were created by refurbishing the existing colonial houses on the site and an additional five new and individual builds were constructed in the estate. A development that achieved a Gibraltar Heritage award for its sensitivity to its rich historical context, many of the features of the original building were retained, key amongst which are the high ceilings and fireplaces. These features, as might be expected in the Gibraltar real estate context, are not features common to most properties on the market.

Also uncommon in the Gibraltar property market are the well-maintained gardens and outdoor swimming pool for the exclusive use by residents.

Location and other facilities

Located in Gibraltar’s South District, and given Gibraltar’s size, Admiral’s Place is a 10-minute drive from anywhere. There are good public transport connections by bus from South Pavilion, next to St Joseph’s Lower and Upper Primary Schools. A ten minute walk to the nearest beaches and beyond to Europa Point, Admiral’s Place, is located in an area that enjoys shelter from Gibraltar’s levanter, the cloud formation that ‘clings’ to the top of the Rock at times of strong easterly winds, with year round clear blue skies.

Like many other properties in the South District, Admiral’s Place offers residents an excellent package of amenities and advantages, all of which combine to offer a tangible and elevated quality of life. Small shops, a pub/restaurant, and social clubs are all within walking distance.
